MomsBloom Healthcare Hero of the Week

Healthcare workers are heroes every day. And in the COVID-19 Crisis, healthcare workers have to be braver than ever. We know there are so many of these heroes among us - our family members, friends, neighbors, and providers - and we want to lift these people up to give them the encouragement and recognition they deserve!

Please nominate the healthcare hero in your life for the MomsBloom Healthcare Hero of the Week. We will honor them on our Facebook page and website so that the MomsBloom community can join you in celebrating how amazing they are.

Healthcare Hero of the Week
May 4, 2020: Elsa Lockman

Elsa Lockman is a psychotherapist at Mindful GR Counseling. Nominated by one of her clients, Elsa is described as, “an already amazing therapist, who has adapted so well to these times we are living in.” In addition to caring for her small children, Elsa has managed to continue offering psychotherapy using telehealth video sessions to mothers facing perinatal/postpartum depression, OCD, and anxiety. She has seen first-hand how crucial mental health support is right now, as women are isolated with significantly less support, while expected to do more. Thank you, Elsa Lockman, for being a mental health warrior in our community!

Healthcare Hero of the Week
April 6, 2020: Sue West

Introducing our first MomsBloom Healthcare Hero of the Week: Dr. Sue West!

Dr. Robyn Hubbard of Grand Rapids Women's Health nominated Dr. West, and shared this about why: "Sue is a natural born leader. With an opening in the top physician position in the Women's Health Service at Spectrum Health, she agreed to fill in as the interim Department Chief. This was the beginning of March, right before the COVID-19 pandemic. She has taken over leadership of this very large department at all Spectrum hospitals, and does such an amazing job. She is collaborative and kind, but decisive in decision making. She is inclusive. She works non stop and must get more emails in a day then we can imagine. Her goal is to make Spectrum health the safest place for patients and providers and staff during this incredible time. I so appreciate her dedication and leadership and feel she deserves special recognition."

Thank you to Dr. Sue West, and all the other healthcare workers on the front lines right now.
