In-Home Postpartum Support

You’re not meant to do this alone. Your community is here for you.

MomsBloom provides hands-on and emotional support in a family’s home as they transition to life with a newborn. Support is provided by trained, non-judgmental community volunteers. At this time, services are only available in Kent and Ottawa counties.

Who is MomsBloom support best for?

  • Parents with minimal or no local, trusted hands-on or emotional support

  • Any growing family - first child, third child, seventh child!

  • All income levels accepted (NO income/Medicaid requirements)

    • Priority will be given to families that have limited access to paid postpartum support (doula, nanny, babysitter, etc.)

Requests for Support must be completed before the baby turns 12 weeks old (adjusted age if the baby is premature). We strongly encourage parents to sign up during the second trimester of pregnancy to allow time for our team to ensure we have a trained volunteer in your area by your due date.

What to Expect

Families are offered up to 12 weeks of postpartum support during your fourth trimester where a volunteer comes to your home for one visit each week, lasting 2-3 hours. This includes weekday, daytime, evening, and weekend support!

Your family may need help with simple things like preparing a meal, caring for siblings, or simply rocking the baby so you can shower and rest. No task is too small, because it all makes a difference in your life!

In-Home Services May Include

  • Watch and care for baby/ies

  • Watch and care for sibling/s

  • Complete light housework (laundry, dishes, house pick-up)

  • Give you time for self care (nap, shower, etc.)

  • Provide companionship and emotional support

  • Help with meal preparation

  • Discuss community resources and how to build your support system
