Postpartum Aide: Kent County

Part-time, Temporary/Seasonal Position

MomsBloom’s Postpartum Aides provide in-home support to parents of newborns in Kent County. Our in-home aide is a temporary position, and the need fluctuates throughout the year based on the number of Requests for Support and volunteers that we have. This position is up to 20 hours per week at the rate of $20/hour. Aides will be servicing at least 5 families at a time for 12 week commitments.

Services the aides will provide may include holding and caring for newborns, caring for older siblings, washing dishes, doing laundry, light housekeeping, listening and providing emotional support, and other postpartum support services as need or as assigned.

This position is a temporary position and is subject to extension based on program need and aide performance.

Applicants must be able to provide their own transportation to and from homes throughout Kent County, and have daytime availability, though exact hours can vary based on the schedules of the families being served. Reimbursement for mileage will be provided. Must have reliable cell service.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with MomsBloom staff to receive training and ongoing advisement

  • Communicate directly with parents to schedule visits, determine best support activities

  • Conduct visits independently, providing in-home support postpartum support services

  • Work with MomsBloom staff to help address any unmet needs the family has, resource navigation support, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide proof upon employment

  • Provide non-judgmental, high-quality support to families and individuals that may have different identities and beliefs than your own

  • Must be able to complete visits in homes throughout Kent County with reliable transportation

  • Must be comfortable using language services via phone or in person to support all families

  • Strong commitment to the mission of MomsBloom

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postpartum support experience (such as a doula, lactation consultant, volunteering with MomsBloom, etc.)

  • Experience working with and supporting individuals of backgrounds that are different than your own (including but not limited to racial and ethnic identity, differing religion, family structure, household income, etc.)
